Curriculum
Curriculum At Mimili
Mimili is an Accelerated Literacy school and all students have lessons each morning. This strategy is employed to combat the literacy levels and it enables age relevant texts to be used.
In 2010, the secondary classes have moved towards a more conventional system. Under this model, students have a home class but are taught different subjects by different staff members. This model has had some success and the onus and responsibilities on the students have increased. This models also sees that SACE is taught by a variety of teachers and this shares the workload and for unit development and implementation allowing for some form of specialisation for staff.
Currently staff comprises both contract and permanent teachers with a balance in terms of age and experience. A supporting and development Performance Management Strategy exists, including a strong induction program for all new staff members. A strong collaborative relationship exists between all schools within the District and also Wiltja Residential Program and Wiltja Secondary Program.
